Ohio Probate Matters
The Probate Court in Ohio handles adoptions, guardianships, and the administration of estates. We can help you with all your Probate Court needs when you are dealing with any of these issues. For most people, a probate matter is their first time dealing with the legal system and it can feel overwhelming. We can help ease your concerns and answer your questions for all probate matters.

Ohio Estate Administration

After a person passes away there are two manners in which a person is appointed to manage the affairs of their estate. When a will is in place, the personal representative is the executor named by the decedent. When there is no will, the court will appoint an estate administrator to serve as a personal representative. The personal representative is required to make certain filings with the Probate Court. They are also required to notify heirs, creditors, and beneficiaries of the decedent’s passing. Property must be valued, liquidated or disbursed, and final tax filings for the estate must be filed. We know this process can be overwhelming, and we are here to guide you through the administration of an estate. In some cases, we have had families ask that we administer an estate on their behalf.

Guardianships Through Ohio Probate Court

There are always concerns when it comes to appointing a guardian for a loved one. Whether you are appointing a guardian for a minor child, an adult who is permanently disabled, or an adult who is temporarily unable to make decisions on their own, you must demonstrate the need for a guardian through the Probate Court system.

We are here to guide you through the legal paperwork as well as provide you with the guidance you need to remain in compliance with your responsibilities as a guardian. We will help you understand your responsibilities both to the ward and the reporting requirements under Ohio law.
